VIC VICE

VIC VICE is a cutting-edge virtual reality platform that offers students in Victorian classrooms a chance to experience various workplaces in a fully-immersive, interactive and multi-sensory way.

About VIC VICE

Schools in the Banyule Nillumbik region can now hire VIC VICE headsets and offer a virtual reality careers experience directly to students. This immersive technology allows students to explore various career paths in an engaging and interactive way. Full training and induction are provided at no cost.

Program Impact

  • Students love it: 98% of young people enjoyed the experience, with most participating simply because it was VR — proving its power to spark curiosity and open minds.
  • Real inspiration: After trying VIC VICE, 22% of students were keen to pursue real-world work experience in industries they hadn’t previously considered.
  • A more optimistic future: One in three students said the experience made them feel more excited about their future careers.

Why Virtual Reality?

  • Makes career exploration accessible for all students.
  • Breaks down gender stereotypes and outdated perceptions of industries.
  • Helps young people identify real passions and realistic pathways.
  • Bridges the gap between education and the needs of growing industries.

VR Experiences

1

Agriculture

  • Dairy Farming
  • Meat Processing and Cropping

The VIC VICE Agriculture experiences immerse students in practical farming activities. In the dairy farming module, they might virtually milk cows, feed calves, and compare traditional and automated farming methods. The meat processing experience lets them pack, prepare, and inspect products for distribution. In protective cropping, students can care for plants, harvest crops, and pack produce for sale. These hands-on activities give a real sense of daily agricultural tasks.

2

Transport and Logistics

  • Diesel Mechanic
  • Forklift & Logistics
  • Distribution Centre
  • Electric Vehicle Technician

The VIC VICE Transport and Logistics VR experiences immerse students in key roles within the sector. These experiences include 360° virtual environments that showcase the day-to-day operations of jobs such as diesel mechanics, forklift operators, and distribution centre workers. For example, students can step inside a distribution centre like Cotton On's massive facility at Avalon and see how online orders are processed.

Community Services

  • Early Childhood Education
  • Aged Care
  • Working with Disabilities

As part of VIC VICE Health & Community Services, students can explore early childhood education settings, learn about the daily tasks in aged care, understand the role of job coaches for people with disabilities, or get hands-on experience with dental care and myotherapy. The VR simulations also include a gamified health setting, where users practice communication in healthcare, infection control, and rehabilitation under the guidance of a physiotherapist.

Health

  • Communication in healthcare
  • Infection control
  • Rehabilitation

As part of VIC VICE Health experiences, students can explore dental care and myotherapy, while also entering a gamified health setting where students can practise communication in healthcare, infection control, and rehabilitation under the guidance of a physiotherapist. These experiences provide insight into clinical environments and the skills required to work in health-related roles.

Building & Construction

  • Carpentry

The VIC VICE Building and Construction experience immerses students in the practical world of the building industry. In the carpentry module, students step onto a virtual worksite where they can observe measuring and marking materials, safely use tools, and explore how basic building elements are constructed. These virtual activities give students a realistic insight into the day-to-day work of a carpenter and what it means to build a career in the construction industry.

Manufacturing

  • Metal Fabrication

The VIC VICE Manufacturing experience gives students an inside look at the metal fabrication industry. Students observe robotic welders in action, watch sparks fly as metal components are joined, and see how precision parts are manufactured for Australia’s big trucks.
